Morgan — creator of Morgan's Money Moves

Hey, I'm Morgan.

I'm a Denver-based woman in my mid-30s who spent years feeling like I was doing okay with money — but never quite in control. Not broke, not in crisis. Just... never on top of it.

How I got here

For most of my 20s and early 30s, my financial strategy was basically "hope for the best." I had a decent job, paid my bills on time, and put a little into savings when I remembered. But I couldn't have told you where my money was actually going, and I definitely wasn't investing.

Around 2018, a friend mentioned she'd started using Betterment — a robo-advisor that basically invests for you. I signed up out of curiosity more than anything. And honestly? It helped. Not because it made me rich overnight, but because it got me off the sidelines. I was finally doing something with my money instead of letting it sit in a checking account.

Then in 2023, AI tools started getting genuinely useful. Budgeting apps that actually understood my spending. Financial assistants that could explain things in plain English. Automated savings tools that moved money around without me thinking about it.

That's when things clicked. Not all at once — it was a gradual shift from "I should probably get my finances together" to "okay, I actually feel like I know what I'm doing."

What this site is

Morgan's Money Moves is my way of documenting what actually worked, what didn't, and how to use these tools without needing a finance degree or a six-figure income.

I write honest reviews of the apps and platforms I've personally used. I share budgeting strategies that stuck after dozens of attempts. I explain investing concepts the way I wish someone had explained them to me — without jargon, without judgment, without assuming you already know the basics.

If you're in that place where you know you should be doing more with your money but aren't sure where to start, this site is for you.

What this site isn't

I'm not a financial advisor. I don't have a finance degree or any professional credentials. I'm someone who figured things out through trial and error and wants to share what I learned along the way.

This isn't a get-rich-quick site. I'm not going to tell you how to 10x your income or retire at 30. This is about building a solid, realistic relationship with your money — the kind that actually lasts.

And while I do my best to be thorough and accurate, nothing here should be taken as professional financial advice. If you're making big financial decisions, talk to a qualified professional.

A note on recommendations

Some links on this site are affiliate links — if you sign up for a tool I recommend, I may earn a small commission at no cost to you. This is how I keep the site running without plastering it with banner ads.

I only recommend things I'd genuinely tell a friend about. If something has downsides, I'll tell you. If I wouldn't use it myself, it's not on this site. You can read my full affiliate disclosure for more details.

Denver life

I live in Denver, Colorado — which I love, even though the cost of living has a way of reminding me why personal finance matters. Between rent, hiking gear, and the occasional overpriced après-ski beer, staying on budget here takes some effort.

A lot of what I write about is shaped by living in a city that's beautiful and expensive in equal measure. If you're navigating similar financial pressures, you'll probably find the Denver context relatable.
